Wai Leong Tang

Wai Leong specialises in public affairs, strategic communications and crisis management. He has extensive knowledge of Southeast Asia having lived and worked in key markets such as Singapore, Indonesia and Myanmar.​

He has advised multiple clients on various aspects of public affairs including regulatory analysis, stakeholder mapping and engagement with key stakeholders across the region. He joined Klareco Communications in its Myanmar office at the start of 2015 and witnessed the political and economic transformation of the country. He worked closely with international companies on market access, while assisting Myanmar companies with their attempts to internationalise.​

Wai Leong subsequently moved to Indonesia to establish and grow Klareco’s market presence. During his stint in Jakarta, he won the confidence and trust of clients from both public and private sectors, including a long-term mandate from Singapore Tourism Board. He moved back to Singapore in 2021 to helm the regional Public Affairs function. He has supported clients ranging from embassies, tech, automotive and more.​

Wai Leong began his career as a specialised public affairs consultant, where he helped tech companies such as Google and Facebook navigate the complexities of regulatory changes in the region and advised them on their engagement with government stakeholders.​

Wai Leong holds a Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) from the National University of Singapore and speaks English, Mandarin, Cantonese and conversational Bahasa Indonesia.​
